Happy Monday from Divine Savior Ministries! Since our last Governing Board meeting, there have been some developments that we would like to share with you, our Divine Savior Family.
Santa Rita Groundbreaking: May 18, 2019
The groundbreaking celebration for our Santa Rita Campus in Austin, Texas is scheduled for May 18, 2019! If you are able to attend, the event will begin at 11am at the Ranch House of the Santa Rita development on Ronald Reagan Boulevard.
In addition to exciting groundbreaking plans, we have called Emily Hunt to be our Early Childhood Director in Santa Rita. Please keep Emily in your prayers as she deliberates this call.
Next Governing Board Meeting: May 17, 2019
Our next Governing Board meeting will be held on May17. This meeting will be held in Austin, Texas so that our Governing Board members can be in attendance for the groundbreaking.
West Palm Beach TDSS Feasibility Study Completed
At our last Governing Board meeting, the governors asked our officers to complete a feasibility study regarding The Academic Link. The Academic Link currently rents the renovated parsonage on the West Palm Beach campus of Divine Savior Church and uses the space to operate a school for students with special needs. The proposal from The Academic Link was to transfer this school from the current ownership to a campus of The Divine Savior School. At the conclusion of this study, the Board voted to not pursue a transfer with The Academic Link.
The Divine Savior School - Doral: Construction Update
Divine Savior in Doral will be renting a space in which to operate The Divine Savior School. This space will be a new building, built by a developer who will be our landlord. The developer planned to break ground shortly after the new year, however it is taking longer to get through permitting than expected. That being said, the plans are still moving along, and we believe that the permits will be issued shortly. With these delays, it is likely that we may not get the program started until the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. If this is the case, we won't have the "soft start" in January 2020 that we anticipated, but it does give us more time to plan and develop the program.
The Core Values Project
We thank the 26 members of our faculty and staff in Doral who participated in our core values focus groups. They answered questions like "how important is a set of unified values for our staff?" and "how can these values best be conveyed?" and "what resonated with you and what felt off?" The feedback was gathered, and now is being used to do two things:
Create a core values document. Our core values will join our mission statement and philosophy of ministry as organizational statements that express our identity and purpose as a ministry. The document will be shared this summer with all our campuses at DSA's back-to-school meetings.
Improve our organizational culture. Throughout the feedback sessions, our faculty and staff shared ideas and concerns. These ideas centered around how we take care of each other as a staff. Our Doral administrators are meeting now and throughout the month of May to review this feedback, find themes, and prioritize concerns to address for the upcoming year.
We're Hiring
We are currently hiring for two positions at Divine Savior Ministries. The first is a Staff Support and Human Resources Coordinator. More information about that position here.
We will also be hiring to replace our current Marketing Coordinator, who is relocating back to Wisconsin in May. More information about this position will be coming in the next weeks.
